Nothing but football in your head for a holiday week

The SC Dornach Football Week took place for the tenth time from 1 to 5 October. 90 children between the ages of 6 and 14 devoted themselves entirely to their favourite sport this week – football.

From 8 a.m. onwards, the first children and teenagers gathered at the Weiden sports field in Dornach, where the youth coaches were already waiting for them. They were offered a varied programme: every morning, in addition to classical football training, mental training or very specific goalie training, there was a start. After lunch, the children, divided into eight groups, played for the trophy in the Champions League tournament. You might think that so much football makes you tired. But far from it – even after the training sessions and tournaments, the participants did not let the joy of football be taken away and continued to play until late into the evening.

But the biggest highlight of the week was undoubtedly Matías Delgado’s visit. “Do they still remember me,” the former FCB playmaker asked laughing as he entered the pitch. The sudden silence that occurred at the FCB star’s appearance immediately revealed it: “The younger generation knows Delgado of course and is enthusiastic about him. The children immediately rushed to the former midfielder to get an autograph or a photo together. Delgado was visibly happy about the many glowing children’s eyes and took time for everyone.

The social is in the foreground

According to OC boss Conny Sennhauser, the football week was a complete success. “My personal highlight is that all the matches were fair and the youth coaches at SC Dornach hardly had to mediate,” she says. Sennhauser is particularly pleased that the children and young people were able to go home satisfied and busy every evening. “It is important to us that the Football Week also creates added value for the children and young people in the social sphere. We want to sensitize them to club life and to working together”. Thanks to the generous support of their sponsors, the football week can only be offered in the first place. They ensure that the children and young people were able to experience a fantastic football week at a moderate price of 220 francs. All participants in the football week received two complete football outfits, a ball and fine lunches and snacks. As a souvenir of the football week there was a diploma and a photo to take home.
